How to get to Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is Macedonia’s largest city, both in size and population; a place of great
historical importance that, at the same time, boasts an intense and vivid lifestyle…
A city so diverse, it offers an abundance of choices for amusement and entertainment,
depending on one’s tastes. Revered as the Second City of Greece and charmingly
nicknamed the “nymph of Thermaikos”, one of Greece’s most distinct cities with
visitors from around the world pouring in yearlong.

Whichever your starting point may be, Greece's road network, featuring large motorways and national highways, offers a comfortable, safe and worry-free driving experience.

A mere 20 km from the city centre, Thessaloniki International Airport "Macedonia" serves daily a great number of travellers with local and international flights to and from many European countries.

TRAINOSE connects the capitals of most of the country's prefectures with direct or multi-stop routes. There are also routes from Thessaloniki to Sofia, Skopje or Belgrade.

The KTEL (Greece’s main intercity public transport bus service) of Thessaloniki is the country’s largest bus station and operates daily with routes throughout Greece as well to Albania, Bulgaria and Germany.

Museums of Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki features a number of museums and art galleries. The city’s main ones are: the Archaeological Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Museum of War, the Museum of Cinema, the Byzantine Culture Museum, the Museum of Ancient Greek, Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Instruments, the Museum of Folklore, the Ethnological Museum of Macedonia-Thrace, the State Museum of Contemporary Art, the Thessaloniki History Centre and the Municipal Art Gallery.
